Clinical laboratory is a medical technical department which integrates medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. Our department can award master degree in the field of clinical test and diagnose. Meanwhile, it is a PCR clinical laboratory and HIV preliminary screening laboratory, certificated by Ministry of Health and CDC. Moreover, our laboratory is a member of the Bacterial Resistance Monitoring Network of Health at provincial level. Also, it is one of the first batch of organizations to participate in the external quality assessment of clinical examination center in Ministry of Health.
The department has a strong technological force. We now have 75 staff, including 10 with senior titles, 7 with doctoral degree and 4 master supervisors, 31% of which have a master’ s degree.
The laboratory consists of 7 sub-specialties in the field of clinical hematology and osology, clinical immunology, clinical biochemistry, clinical microbiology, molecular gene diagnosis and emergency laboratory. The laboratory covers an area of nearly 2,000 square meters and is capable of test of nearly 400 clinical items. Moreover, all items are monitored by the internal quality control. At present stage, our laboratory conduct quality and safety management in accordance with ISO15189 medical laboratory system requirements.
There are 60 large equipment in our laboratory, such as automatic biochemical immune line, MALDI-TOF, 5 classification automatic blood cell analyzer, Cell Image Analysis System, Automatic special protein analyzer, Automatic Immulite Chemiluminescent Immunoassay System, Bio-Rad chromatography system, Automated Electrophoresis and Analysis system, Automated Bacterial Identification System, Automated blood culture system, Biomerieux Vitek Microbiological Culture Analyzer, fluorescent quantitative PCR instrument, Automated Sperm Quality Analyzers, Automatic stool routine analyzer, Tecan Freedom EVOlyzer and FC500 Flow cytometry, which are assessed for a total value of over 100 million.
We mainly study on the relationship between intestinal flora and metabolic diseases, the mechanisms of bacterial resistance, laboratory diagnosis of immune and infectious diseases, the mechanisms of tumor markers and molecular genetics and immunology of leukemia. In recent 5 years, our department has presided 4 National Natural Science Foundations, more than 20 provincial projects and over 10 projects at the university and the municipal level. In addition, we obtained 1 second prize of Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Award, 4 Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, and more than 20 new medical technology awards in our hospital. We have published more than 100 academic articles as the first author, including 15 indexed by SCI, and 5 monographs as the chief editor or co-editor.
