[The opening remarks] 2017 October 26th, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University celebrated its 105th birthday of clinical medicine education and the 80th anniversary of relocation to Shaanxi. 80 years ago, during anti-Japanese war, driven by the deeply conscious of the righteousness, our predecessors moved to Shaanxi to run school and to develop medical science, saving our country from extinction. Over these past 80 years, generations of Second Affiliated Hospital staff have been passing down its motto and creating its brilliant performances. In the golden harvest autumn, the anniversary celebrations themed Inheritance, Innovation, Aspiration and Exceeding came to a climax, embracing the spirit of Being great physician, and Being noble in medical ethics, for Light of Life. All the efforts are memorable and precious, and these excellent celebrations can be summarized as Ten (1+2) Portfolios & Numbers of Academic Events.
Ⅰ. Grand Ceremonies 1+2 (1 refers to the opening ceremony, 2 refers to two entertainment performances). In the morning of Oct 24th, the opening ceremony of Construction & Development Strategies of Quality Hospital of World-class University and Academic Forum of the 80th Anniversary of Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University was held in Grand Theatre of Xi 'an People's Hotel. More than 2,000 guests, from leaders of Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the CPC, Xi'an Municipal Committee of the CPC, province and municipal government, NPC, CPPCC, State Education Commission, FPC(Family Planning Commission), correspondent stations of state media, provincial and municipal news media, Association for the Ideological and Political Work of Family Planning, committee-owned and committee-run hospitals and friendship hospitals to domestic and overseas alumni from all walks of life, leaders of Xi’an Jiaotong University, collaborative hospitals of Second Affiliated Hospital and health alliances, to previous leaders, in-service staff, the retirees and student representatives of Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, have witnessed this important historical moment. Two entertainment performances: in the evening of Oct 24th, 2017 Charity Performance themed Great love is in mind & True love is timeless for poverty children with congenital heart disease in Shaanxi and the 80th anniversary of Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University was held in the Siyuan Event Hall of Xi’an Jiaotong University. In the next evening, the Second Affiliated Hospital and health alliances jointly took to the stage to entertain at the show themed Being Great Physician and Being Noble in Medical Ethics, for the Light of Life, highlighting their benevolence and cultural cultivation.

Ⅱ. Deepening Medical Reform 1+2 (1 refers to health alliances forum, 2 refers to two cooperative agreements signed). The Development Forum of Health alliances in the situation of new medical reform was held in the afternoon of Oct 23rd, focusing on the policy interpretation, experience summary and future actions for the development of health alliances to facilitate the implementation of the new medical reform. In the morning of Oct 24th, for achieving sustainable quality medical resources for all, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University respectively signed cooperative agreements with Weibei Industrial Park Hospital and Baoji Panlong Hospital.
Ⅲ. Development & Innovation 1+2 (1 refers to a new branch is completed and 2 refers to two platforms are launched). The Daming Palace Branch of Second Affiliated Hospital -- Integrated Cardiovascular Hospital was completed, and its opening ceremony was held on Oct 24th. Two platforms: the Mobile Internet Platform of Health Alliance was launched on Oct 23rd, which was a great gift for over 100 health alliances. The workstation of Academician Han yaling was completed and its opening ceremony was held on Oct 24th.
Ⅳ. Special Topic in Management 1+2 (1 refers to a management report and 2 refers to two academician forums). On Oct 18th, Professor Gao Jiechun, the founder of Chinese Hospital Ranking List and the director of Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University delivered a special report of Discipline Planning of Hospital and Exploration of Chinese Multidisciplinary Collaborative Diagnosis and Treatment in multifunction hall of Second Affiliated Hospital. In the morning of Oct 24th, Academicians Fan Daiming and Han Yaling, presenting masters’ charm, who respectively launched forums around Excellent Strategy & Integrative Medicine and How to Improve the Clinical Scientific Research Capacity and Academic Standards.
Ⅴ. International Forums 1+2 (1 refers to an international tumor conference and 2 refers to two summit forums). On Oct 25th, the Second Affiliated Hospital hosted Chang’an International Health Conference & the 6th China-Australia Biomedical Research Conference -- Tumor Biology and Cancer Prevention Forum, in which nearly 500 experts and scholars from China and Australia together discussed the most challenging issues in the fields from tumor biomedicine, highly tumor-targeted therapy to tumor preventive medicine. Two international summit forums: the hospital hosted 2017 The Belt and Road International Orthopedic Summit Forum, a number of academic big figures including Kun-Zheng Wang -- the chairman candidate of Chinese Orthopedic Association of Chinese Medical Association and the director professor of Joint Surgical Center of Medical Department of Xi’an Jiaotong University and Wangyan -- the director of the Spine Surgical Center of General Hospital of PLA attended the forum. In addition, the hospital hosted 2017 Xi’an International Summit Forum of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the chief editor of Acta Otolaryngologica and academician of Karolinska Institutet Professor Matti Anniko and Professor Williman B Coman from the University of Queensland, Australia were invited to give lectures.
Ⅵ. Charity Donations 1+2 (1 refers to a social donation and 2 refers to two times of staff donations). The hospital worked with Quzheng Charity Foundation to launch a movie star-involved event called Great Love in Mind, in order to cure hundreds of poor children with CHD and to set up Quzheng Scholarship Program to offer grant to needy students in its Medical School, and the funding ceremony was held on Oct 24th.The hospital leaders and committee members donated over 100,000 RMB to Quzheng Charity Foundation. The hospital held two donation initiative ceremonies respectively called Charity Donation to the School and Charity Donation to the Hospital, and all staff donated in the above ceremonies as their congratulations to its anniversary.
Ⅶ. Contributing to the society 1+2 (1 refers to a large-scale free clinic for one week and 2 refers to two rounds of visits to the grass-root units). A five-day large-scale free clinic from Oct 21st to 25th was available to the whole society. Two rounds of visits: throughout the entire year, the hospital organized experts and professors from various departments to go down to health alliances and cooperative hospitals to make round of visits; besides, it organized multidisciplinary experts equipped with testing facilities and medicines to go down to Shuiping village, Sanping village, Xieba village, Jingzhugou village and Caomiao village of Ankang city to roll out campaign of Medicine-Home-Delivery.
Ⅷ. Spiritual Appearance 1+2 (1 refers to collective spirit appearance and 2 refers to two generations presenting their noble character and spirit). A picture album was designed and published to display the advanced technologies, scientific research achievements and the collective spiritual appearance of the Second Affiliated Hospital. The hospital’s spirituality was highlighted and passed down from the older generation to the new one. The retirees were awarded Eminent Alumni Award and Outstanding Contribution Award for their great contributions to the hospital, which was carrying forward the spirit of Anti-Japanese War and the excellent hospital culture. The vigorous young volunteers showed their noble characters and spirit with thoughtful services and selfless dedication in the events, which exposed the influences of spiritual inheritance.
Ⅸ. Party Members Boosting Developments 1+2 (1 refers to a thematic cultivation normalization and 2 refers to two thematic learning). Implementing the annual plan designed by the Party Committee, it made sustained efforts to promote normalization and institutionalization of Two Learning and One Practice, meanwhile, the party members were on the front line to boost the development of academic subjects. The two thematic learning closely around the development of hospital were carried on: one was to foster and implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress to speed up the construction of Health China and to intensify the health care reform; the other was to understand and meet the requirements of Double First Class Construction to create a quality hospital.
Ⅹ. Image Display 1+2 (1 refers a promotion campaign and 2 refers to two sets of publications). The promotion campaign themed Being great physician and noble in medical ethics, for light of life was filmed to celebrate the 80th anniversary. The Name list in Senior Tittles of Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University and the 80th anniversary special issue of Xibei Hospital were edited and published to feature its medical treatment, education, research, administration and logistics service and the staff.
Ⅺ. Numbers of Academic Events. Academic exchange impulses vigorous development of the hospital, all of departments have held totally more than 30 academic conferences around its anniversary.
